[Sco] thorn-like, strongly sclerotised spine on the prefemur of ultimate and/or penultimate legs in Scolopendridae Leach, 1814, which can sometimes be dislodged leaving a faint rounded hump. Lewis et al. (2005: 3, 5, 7, figs. 8-9). Bonato et al. (2010: 43, fig. 55). Syn.: prefemoral dorsal spur/spurs, prefemoral tooth/teeth.
Remark: The reference to Lewis et al. (2005: 7), clarifying the applicability of the term prefemoral spine is missing in Bonato et al. (2010: 43) and is added here, along with further characteristics of the structure as described by Lewis et al. (2005).
