Zusammenfassung: | Eleven species or sub-species were collected, among which three are new ones: Newportia thibaudi, Lamyctes mauriesi, Newportia longitarsis (Newport) guadeloupensis. Most of these species are new for the french West Indies. One originates from New Caledonia: Cryptops neocaledonicus; two others were apparently imported from Europe : Lamyctes aff. fulvicornis and Cryptops hortensis pauciporus. The Scolopendrides preferably inhabit dry habitat whereas the Cryptopides inhabit wet habitat at low and high altitude. Two species belonging to Newportia show a quite different altitudinal distribution: N. longitarsis guadeloupensis inhabiting the stations of high altitude, particularly above 1 100 m; N. thibaudi can be found at 200-300 m.
