The Čertovy schody Limestone Quarry – West: Fauna of reclamated areas of the quarry, monitoring study of the 22nd year (2019)

Abstract: Terrestrial athropods were surveyed in 2019 at one of the oldest levels, situated at the northwestern corner of the quarry. Despite the pitfall trapping failed (due to wild boars), the following number of species were documented: spiders – 42, millipedes – 5, mites & ticks – 4, woodlice – 2, harvestmen – 1, pseudoscorpions – 1, centipedes – 1. Five spider species were found to be ecologically significant; however, if samples from the pitfall trap had been available, their number would have been surely even higher. Spiders Callilepis schuszteri and Zelotes erebeus, harvestman Leiobunum rotundum and a millipede of the genus Melogona were recorded for the first time in the quarry.
