The number bears "April 1886" as the printed date, but the cover page of the copy at the Ernst Mayr Library, Harvard, bears the handwritten date "Mar. 27, 1886", which should be interpreted as a "no later than" date. The work by Meinert is the first in the number and encompasses signatures 2U-Z and 2A-D. Signatures 2U-V are dated as "December 17, 1885", signatures 2W-X as "December 16, 1885" (one day earlier), signatures 2Y-Z and 2A-B as "December 31, 1885", and signatures 2C-D as "January 21, 1886".
