Abstract:

Chondromorpha xanthotricha (Attems, 1898) (Diplopoda: Paradoxosomatidae) is added to the known millipede fauna of Puerto Rico. With Orthomorpha coarctata (Saussure, 1860) and Oxidus gracilis (Koch, 1847), three species of this family are represented in the local fauna. Chondromorpha xanthotricha and O. coarctata inhabit mostly the coastal lowland (< 300 m) whereas O. gracilis predominates in the mountains (> 300 m) of Puerto Rico. Chondromorpha xanthotricha and O. gracilis were probably introduced to Puerto Rico by commercial activity during the early sixties.
