Die Hundertfüßer, Tausendfüßer und Zwergfüßer (Myriapoda, Chilopoda, Diplopoda, Symphyla) einer Sandabgrabung bei Haltern-Flaesheim (Kreis Recklinghausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen)

Within the context of the present work on a still in use sand pit near Haltern-Flaesheim (district Recklinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia), in addition to the contributions to the fauna of vertebrates and invertebrates also the vegetation and flora are considered. Due to the cooperation of various specialists for numerous different groups of organisms a current and comprehensive state of the biological diversity of the study area can be presented here for the first time. The centipede, millipede and pseudocentipede fauna of the sand pit near Haltern-Flaesheim was studied using pitfall traps and hand sampling methods between 2015 and 2019. A total of 15 centipede, 14 millipede and two pseudocentipede species could be proven with more than 3617 specimens. The major part of the centipedes prefers open habitats, whereas most millipedes can be characterized as eurytopic woodland species. The species spectrum is discussed from a nature conservation point of view including comments on some selected species.
