Abstract:

During 1998–2003, a detailed faunistic zoological research has been performed in the freshly abandoned parts of the bottom of the limestone quarry "Velkolom Čertovy schody - západ". The main aim of the study is to monitore the development of zoocenoses under the conditions of the carry reclamation activities. The systematic monitoring study has been started in 1999, and as the model groups were selected mammals (Mammalia), birds (Aves), reptiles (Reptilia), amphibians (Amphibia), molluscs (Mollusca) and spiders (Arachnida), occasionally also phytophagous beetles (Chrosomelidae, Curculionidae, Bruchidae) and diplopods (Diplopoda) have been collected and determined.

Additionally, 121 species of phytophagous beetles were found, they mostly represent also the common eurytopic species having no specific demands on the habitat quality. Besides, 4 species of the diplopods has been found in the locality under study.
